News and Announcements

Snowflake KidSki is looking for fun and enthusiastic coaches to help make magic happen this winter! Did you know, high school and college skiers are the kids favorites? Did you know Jessie Diggins started her career as in a youth ski program just like Snowflake KidSki?

Coaches our the most important volunteer position in KidSki. We have an easy to use curriculum with daily lesson plans for each level. Coaches ages 16+ will be paired with another coach to have fun in the snow with a group of 8-10 skiers. Assistant coaches, ages 12-15, will help ensure kids are having fun and keep the crew together out on the trails.

Dates, times, and attendance: Snowflake KidSki begins on Sunday Jan 9th at 1:30, and continues each Sunday, 2:00 – 3:30, through Feb 13th, at Snowflake Nordic Ski Center. Coaches are asked to be on-site from 1:45-3:45 each week (1:00-3:45 on the first week, January 9th). While the kids love it when their favorite coach is there every week, we understand you may have to miss a week throughout the 6 week session, we’ll work with your family schedule!

Since there are so many of you who still have not paid the Team fee of $50 per family (over 50), I am sending out this mass appeal to request, if you haven’t already done so, to make
your payment of these fees.

Hello Skiers and Parents,

This week we will meet at Snowflake on Monday at 4:15. Our intention is that we’ll meet every school day Monday – Friday at 4:15 at Snowflake (Except Race Days).

With the warm weather expected this week, make sure you check the phone line, 728-1811, daily. Snowflake may close for a few days and then we would practice at Grand Avenue Nordic Center (the bottom of Spirit Mountain). The daily fee is $5 – cash.

Our race this week is on Friday, December 17 at Grand Avenue Nordic Center (GANC). You must be signed up on our website or on the paper sign up on the corkboard in the East Team Room at Snowflake by Tuesday evening. Ski suits will be handed out on Thursday to those racing on Friday. You must have a check for $150 and the Ski Suit Check Out Form (download from the website) filled out and signed to pick up a ski suit. The check will be returned when the ski suit is turned in at the end of the season.

Remember:
1. All Ordean students must haver their parents excuse them on Race Days
2. No buses are provided to races that are in Duluth

We are still trying to find a bus driver(s) for the Snowflake bus. Any ideas welcomed. If we don’t get the bus going, all Snowflake bus checks will be returned.

Attached is the start list for the Proctor Invite on Thursday, December 9 at Grand Avenue Nordic Center. Directions to the venue can be found by opening the event information in the “Schedule” box on the home page or in the “Calendar” .
Students that are on the Start List and attend East HS will be excused all day on Thursday. Ordean MS students and others that have talked to Bonnie about racing will have to be excused by their parents.
Please plan on being at the race venue at least 1 hour before your start time.
I don’t believe that Chalet at Grand Avenue will be open so bring warm dry clothes to change into after you race.
