News and Announcements

Hello Skiers,
Our East Nordic Ski Team will NOT be participating in the Cook County Invite on Friday, January 21. The reason for this is that my first priority for of all of you is that you remain Healthy. I believe that a long day on the bus and the very high covid rate in Cook County is not a good combination.
Instead of the race we will have a 10 a.m. race/workout at Snowflake. More information to come.
Tomorrow, Monday, January 17, is a ski on your own day.

New Snowflake Rules Begin on Tuesday. The East Nordic Team will be meeting outside in groups like we did last winter. You may enter the Snowflake wax room to get your ski bag from the ski closets and go right back outside with your ski bag. You my drop your back pack in the locker room. You may use the bathrooms. No East skier can spend anytime in the Chalet. Nor can East skiers can go up stairs in the chalet. Do not use the front door. Please plan to ski and play on the hill until your ride is ready to leave Snowflake. Let’s keep ourselves and each other healthy!

See you Tuesday,
Bonnie

Team Eligibility

Posted by Duluth East High School Nordic Ski Team at Jan 6, 2022 1:46PM PST

We received a reminder from the Athletic Director’s office that a number of you are “Not Eligible” due to not completing the online forms, physical exam status and/or nonpayment of the activity fee. Anyone who is ineligible CANNOT participate at practice or in competition. Please take care of these items immediately.

For skiers who need to complete their online registration, you need to log in using your ISD709 student email and password. For assistance contact Kayla Carroll at 218-336-8845 x1010

Thank you for taking care of the above so we can focus our energies on skiing.

The bus for Tuesday’s race in Cloquet will leave Ordean East at 2:45 and will leave East at 3pm. Skiers need to change into their race clothes at school. The bus will only return to East after the race. The bus will have a trailer for Ski bags. Everyone must wear a mask on the bus and around the race venue. Skiers should have warm clothes with them for before and after the race as they will not be allowed to hang out on the bus due to Covid.

Skiers need to get their skis to school in the morning. I’m not sure where they keep their ski bags at Ordean. I suggest asking in the office or ask a teacher. Parents must excuse Ordean East students for each race. 15 minutes before bus departure is what East allows.

We will have kick wax at Pine Valley for our skiers.

Due to the weather and covid we are moving our classic and skate workouts to Grand Avenue Nordic Center. We will meet on Wednesday and Friday at 1:00 p.m. outside the lower doors at the Grand Avenue Chalet. Have your trail fees paid ($5 in the blue box on the trail head sign) waiver signed if necessary (https://www.spiritmt.com/waivers), skis waxed (Swix green should work) and be ready to ski at 1:00 p.m. See you all there. Listen to the phone line for updates (728-1811)

Hello Skiers,
Borah, the company we buy our team jackets, ski suits and buffs from, has donated an entry to the Kortelopet to the ski team. We will choose the skier by lottery. Send your name and phone number to Bonnie by email (bonniefullerkask@gmail.com) or text (218.464.3510) by Wednesday, December 29. Be sure to include your name and phone number in both the email and text (Bonnie doesn’t have all of you in her contacts). This has to be done quickly as the Kortelopet entry must be completed by Friday, December 31.
